Blood, Blue, and Beyond
CSEF · 2026 Chemistry (Junior Division)
Overview
The purpose of this experiment is to test how the temperature of the water mixed in the luminol compound affects the amount of light produced in the luminol reaction. This mixture is used very frequently in the crime world, assisting detectives in finding blood residue in an attack zone. Knowing what temperature of water is best for excellent results is crucial to those in the forensic department and contributes to the justice of assault victims.
