The Impacts of Artificial Intelligence: Is It Positive or Negative

Overview

For our project we decided to determine the affects that AI had on individuals. We had individuals complete a multiple choice survey, which had questions focused on their knowledge on AI, if they were familiar, and their opinion if AI has a positive or negative impact.

Why?

The purpose of this project is to determine the amount of people who are familiar with AI, who use AI on a regular basis, and individuals opinions on whether they think AI is positive or negative. We chose to do this project because of an uprise of AI use in our community and school. For our hypothesis, we believe people will think AI has a beneficial impact.

How?

For the procedure we conducted a multiple choice survey which we shared with our community. We passed out surveys and had subjects complete the survey online.

The survey contained the following questions,

In the past month, have you used any of the following: AI virtual assistance, apps that filter or enhance photos or videos, other.

Do you think AI is Positive or Negative? Why?

Once surveys are collected tally results.

What?

From our procedure we found that most individuals found AI to be a negative, but still chose to use it on a daily basis. From the feedback of the surveys we noticed most of the people that did the survey found AI to be negative but still decide to use it on a daily basis, and also claimed AI is negative because it damages the brain and affects the environment.

So What?

From our procedure results, we based our research on the most frequent claim which is that Ai is negative. We focused on the damage AI data centres do to the environment around them, and the damage AI does to the brain and cognitive skills.

What's Next?

In the future we could of included more types of AI and examples of them. We also could've asked more questions For example, how many have used AI to complete school projects, and if the individual has seen cognitive side affects from the use of AI. We would like to do more further research on different ways to determine if your brain is really damaged from AI and ways to reverse it.
