The Effect of Paper Airplane Design on Flight Performance

CSEF · 2026 Applied Mechanics (Junior Division)

Overview

We tried to figure out which of the 6 designs of paper airplanes affects the distance they travel in flight. We did this because we wanted to find out how paper airplanes could fly in the air without something moving it. We did our experiment outside where we threw our paper airplanes for our trials and got our information that we needed in order to continue our project. Our results included the Basic Dart went the farthest, going a total distance of 317.3333333 inches. The results were that overall the Basic Dart went the farthest. Our conclusion is that the Basic Dart went farther than the other 5 designs.
