Enzymatic Analysis of Various Tissues of the Bos primigenius

CSEF · 2013 Biochemistry/ Molecular Biology

Overview

Objectives/Goals Our goals are to measure the enzymatic activity in various cow tissues and relate it to the healthiness of each tissue. Methods/Materials Subjecting five grams of cow liver, pancreas, heart, kidneys, and lungs to ten milliliters of three percent hydrogen peroxide, and measuring the volume of the enzymatic activity using distance in a one hundred milliliter beaker. Results Liver consistently exceeded 100mL during trials, while the rest of the tissues rarely surpassed 30mL. The lung tissue produced almost no reaction. Conclusions/Discussion The liver was the highest-reacting organ and thus the healthiest to consume. The lung's lack of activity makes it the least healthy to consume.
