The Effect Low and Mid Kick Point Sticks Have on Different Hockey Shots
CWSF · 2026 Curiosity & Ingenuity
Overview
My project looks at how the kick point of a hockey stick affects shot speed and release time of different hockey shots. I tested different types of shots using a hockey ball and both low and mid kick point sticks. I recorded and compared the shot speeds and release times for each kick point. I found that the low kick point stick performed better for release time in all shots tested. For shot speed, the low kick point stick performed better in wrist shots and snapshots, while the mid kick point stick performed better in slap shots and one-timers. This project is important because it helps players choose the right stick for their play style, which can improve performance in games.
