Clean Water Matters: Simple Filtration, Big Impact

Overview
Protecting (nipiy): Clean water is something many people take for granted. But for some First Nations communities in Canada, safe drinking water is still not always guaranteed. My project explores how a simple water filter, made from everyday materials can remove dirt and visible impurities from contaminated water. By demonstrating this process, my project shows how filtration is an important first step in making water safer to use. It also highlights a bigger issue: access to clean, reliable drinking water is essential for health, well-being, and equity. This project connects science to real-life challenges and emphasizes why improving water systems in First Nations communities matter. In my culture the women are called "Water Protectors" because they care for and protect the water for our future generations.
