Which Fruits Have the Most Sugar?
CSEF · 2026 Biochemistry/ Molecular Biology (Junior Division)
Overview
The purpose of my project is to find which fruit has the most sugar by measuring it with a refractometer (Sugar Brix). All ripe fruits that I used for my experiment are pineapple, grapes, golden kiwi, green kiwi, and strawberries. I hypothesize that pineapple due to its size would be sweeter meaning it would have higher amounts of sugar. I first started my experiment by cutting the fruits into small pieces. I then squeezed the fruits to get the juice and insert it into the refractometer while writing down the percentage of sugar of the fruits. I repeated this ten times, then divided it by ten to get roughly the exact amount of sugar in each fruit.
