The Motifs Development of Gringsing Sarong
ISEF · 2015
Overview
Gringsing sarong is the famous sarong with double weaving technique. Which is very rare technique in the World. This technique of weaving is the one of the three countries, India, Japan, and Indonesia. Tenganan Pegringsingan Village is the only one using double weaving technique in Bali Province, Indonesia, where to made the gringsing sarong need a long time and handmade. The motifs of gringsing sarong describe about the universe and spatial of land. Unfortunately nowadays at Tenganan Pegringsingan Village, they do not create a new motifs of gringsing sarong as a consequences costumers is less interested to buy the sarong anymore. Moreover, author created the new motifs of gringsing sarong by using mathematics to give the new variation of motifs. In this research it is used some methods, observation, literatures, and interview. First the gringsing sarong motifs were analyzed by using fractals theory and then by mathematics function. That mathematics functions and fractals geometry apply for the motifs of gringsing sarong without change the philosophy of motifs gringsing sarong.
