The Effect of Tocotrienol on Apoptosis
ISEF · 2017 Cellular and Molecular Biology
Overview
The purpose of my project was to determine if administering tocotrienol with a form of chemotherapy will induce apoptosis at a faster rate. The way I conducted this experiment was that I acquired paramecium cells, tamoxifen, and delta-tocotrienol and I administered a base concentration of 0.05 ml of tamoxifen and different concentrations of delta-tocotrienol to the cells at different concentrations(0.05, 0.10, and 0.15ml) and observed apoptosis under a microscope. My results indicated that the cells that were administered 0.05ml of tocotrienol and 0.05 ml of tamoxifen had the fastest rate of apoptosis in comparison to the cells that were administered the other concentrations.
