Stitching for Strength
CWSF · 2026 Curiosity & Ingenuity
Overview
My project "Stitching for Strength" was designed to determine which suturing technique could hold the most amount of weight without ripping. For this project, I learned and practiced how to perform six suturing techniques. Then, I cut four synthetic skin sheets in half and sewed them back together using each technique. Following that, using clamps and a bucket, I added weights to each sutured sheet until they failed. This project was important because wound healing and closing is a crucial part of surgery, which a career I may want to pursue in the future.
