Slippery Sliding Super Speed
CSEF · 2026 Applied Mechanics (Junior Division)
Overview
The purpose is to test which element makes sliding down a playground slide faster. To test our hypothesis that Vegetable oil would be the fastest, we tested a series of different materials and elements. The elements we tested were nothing as a control, vegetable oil, blankets, water, dish soap, parchment paper, and newspaper. After testing, the results were unexpected. Our hypothesis was wrong, and the true fastest was dish soap.
