Salt Water Effect On Plants

I hypothesize that the plant watered with salt water will not grow as much as as a plant watered with fresh water. This is what salt water does to plants.

-Imbalances nutrients.

-causes Dehydration.

-causes trouble for roots and soil.

-causes ion toxicity.

-soil degradation.

We researched salt water facts and some facts of what would happen if salt water got on a plant, but we didn't search up what would happen if that were to occur, so don't think we cheated'! We learned about ion toxicity and osmotic stress, which in simple words means, when plants(or cells),get revealed to high amounts of salts, they suffer from,

Osmotic stress-Try to image drinking a thick milkshake through a tiny straw-that is what it is like for a plant root in salty soil.

Ion toxicity-The plant finally absorbs the water,but has a high concentration dissolved salt,a 1:1 ratio(NA+),to chloride(CA-)ions,these ions reach the leaves and accumulate.

Our 2 variables are:

Salt water-Water with salt in it

Fresh water-Water that humans and animals drink, and used to water plants

Here is our procedure from step 1 to step 7.

Step 1-take 6 plants for 3 trials(2 plants for each trial).

Step 2-Take 2 plants.

Step 3-Label one "Fresh water", and the other "Salt water".

Step 4-Give both plants the water they are supposed to have and an equal amount.

Step 5-Continue this on for one or two weeks.

Step 6-See if results are correct.

Step 7-Send to teacher.

We observe that :

-Only a few plants are cracking

They aren't germinating

- there are six seeds

-They're six sections 3 water 3 salt water

- we did not get the seeds germinate yet

We analyzed that the plant :

-Did not germinate yet

-we found cracks in the soil in both sides

-The soil for all of the plants still looks rich

We were correct but we didn't get the seeds to germinate,so we decided to think and we already know that we were correct and noticed cracks in 4 of the plants.

it has been useful to farmers,people, and for a living things.So they can see what'ts better freshwater or saltwater for a fertilized photo physics for there plants.People like farmers and more can see your slides that we made and reflect on it .

First we got the wrong amount of plants. we got the correct amount of plants.

we also watered the plants late to the due date.We may have given some plants more water and others less.
