RENOVALACT: Anti-Acne Treatment
ISEF · 2016
Overview
Acne is a problem all too common in teenagers that can seriously affect self-esteem and social interaction among adolescents. Therefore, tackling acne is of paramount importance at this age not only for health reasons but as part of social integration. In this work we developed a new anti-acne lotion named Renovalac based on Lactobacillus. This lotion involves a microbiological process since Lactobacillus work as inhibitor of harmful bacteria Staphylococcus Aureus and Propionibacterium Acness, responsible for the formation of acne. Several tests were made to obtain Lactobacillus from different types of yoghurts by preparing the culture mediums in sterilized environment and incubating them at 35°C for 24 hours. In-vitro test were made to test the effectiveness of the proposed formula against the harmful microorganisms. Furthermore, the beneficial effect of the new lotion was also tested and demonstrated in laboratory tests.
