Qualitative Analysis of Cations, Anions, Unknowns
Overview
Objectives/Goals To qualitatively analyze cations, anions and unknown solutions. Methods/Materials Materials are solutions of cations, anions, unknown solutions and individual group reagents. Results The coloration of the precipitates confirm the presence of certain cations or anions. Conclusions/Discussion By the color of the precipitate, one can identify a certain cation or anion that was present in the solution. Example: a red colored precipitate confirms the presense of Iron (Fe(2+)) ions.
Summary statement
To identify the presence of an ion in a solution.
