AJAS · 2024

Overview

ABSTRACT-- Introduction: In the United States, medication non-adherence poses a significant public health challenge, impacting over 131 million individuals and contributing to adverse health outcomes. The financial toll on healthcare exceeds $35 million annually, with 125,000 deaths attributed to inadequate adherence. Purpose: This study addresses these challenges through the development of an advanced automated medication tracker and dispenser, integrating microelectronic technology, Arduino Board, servo motors, and Artificial Intelligence The proposed system leverages AI for dispensing options, tracking missed doses, preventing abuse, offering comprehensive medication regimes, enabling care team monitoring, establishing pharmacy connections, and ensuring accessibility for impaired patients. Methods: The integration of AI algorithms enhances the system's capabilities, providing optimal user experiences and personalized interactions. Results: The prototype demonstrates exceptional performance with 98.35% accuracy in tracking and dispensing. The incorporation of AI significantly improves the system's ability to adapt and interact with users on a personalized level. Conclusion: This unique product addresses not only tracking and dispensing but also discerns drug abuse patterns and intentional dosage misses through facial and voice recognition. The system empowers users to track, store, receive reminders, and establish connections with pharmacies and caregivers, offering a comprehensive solution to medication management challenges.
