Overview
Our 3D scanner can make digital models of real objects using a laser pointer and a USB webcam. Scanning process takes from two to fifteen minutes (depending on scanning mode). Scanning accuracy is 0.15 mm. The project work can be divided into developing hardware and software. Software part deals with creating drivers and developing interface for the scanner. Receiving data from the camera and their processing are performed on computer. The hardware part is concerned with control board development. Control board accepts commands from the computer and controls the laser and motor. As a result, we get scanned finished 3D model that can be processed by a computer or printed out with the help of a 3D printer.
