Improving Traffic Efficiency at T-Junctions
AJAS · 2018 Robotics and Intelligent Machines (inferred)
Overview
Traffic inefficiency is a problem that will only continue to grow as more and more people take on vehicles as their primary mode of transportation. Hold ups in traffic can lead to, at best, minor inconveniences and time wasted, and at worst, collisions and other accidents that cost lives. One such inefficiency takes place outside Ames High School, where a broad turn causes traffic to back up for almost a quarter of a mile immediately before the school day begins. Through using computer simulation software, I found that by adjusting the road itself is more effective in resolving this issue than using stoplights and stop signs.
