Immune Reactions of Encapsulation in Cockroaches
ISEF · 2016 Behavioral and Social Sciences
Overview
This research inspects cockroaches’ immune system. Our group found cockroach (Periplaneta Americana) can be anaesthetized by carbon dioxide; female has greater immune responses; hemocytes can encapsulate external stimulus; cockroaches have acquired immunity. Mouse (having human-resembled immune system) are used in current studies, causing ethical problems. As we found cockroaches have acquired immunity, it is the best candidate for future research.
