Fungus among Us

Overview

Black mold can grow in houses and is extremely dangerous to humans. The purpose of my project was to find the best household remedies to remove black mold. I tested 8 different solutions to determine which was best. The solutions were; 100% bleach ,50% bleach 50% distilled water,10% bleach 90% distilled water,100% vinegar, 50% vinegar 50% distilled water ,10% vinegar 90%distilled water ,50%bleach 50% vinegar ,and a commercial grade cleaner. The solutions were tested at a felid site where black mold remediation was occurring . Each was applied to a separate sheet of drywall with black mold eight times over a four hour period. Pictures were taken every 15 minutes after the solution was applied. A final picture was taken of each drywall sample 12 hours after the final solution was applied. The mold was verified under a microscope to be black mold. My findings were that 100% bleach solution is the best household remedy to reduce black mold. This solution Preformed the best at the end of the test sprays and after 12 hours the final solution was applied . The solution of 50% bleach -50% distilled water was the 2nd best and the 50% bleach - 50% vinegar was 3rd.
