Feeling the Colors
ISEF · 2015
Overview
Currently, cases of blindness have increased in people of all the world's people; because of this, it is necessary to develop tools that help them to adapt and develop within a context, which does not have the characteristics that they require. A person with blindness, is doomed necessarily to use their other senses as a replacement of which was lost; to reorganize your brain so that it fits a new vision of the world, such as the intensification of their hearing, touch and smell. Like many of these people that will help them in this transition, through the maximization of the other senses that possess, in order to have a reliable scheme of the environment in which they operate. The project, has as purpose the construction of a glove haptic, through the use of microvibrators, will allow the blind to make a distinction of color, and thus, an understanding of these, in a different way to that always has been handled; It is viable for the demonstration of the perception of colors; At the same time, the cutaneous receptors also are sending, through nerve pathways (Lemniscal system), information that is projected in the parietal lobe of the cerebral cortex somatosensory area.
