Do Greenhouses Improve Plant Growth

Our hypothesis is that plant can grow in greenhouses as well as growing outside. We also beleve that artifical lights are better because you can control the light.

Greenhouses are buildings used tro grow plants that are made of glass allowing light in and they keep humidity and warmth in. Advantages is that you can control the enviorment where outside you cant. Some disadvantages are that they cost more money for power/electricity. Another disadvantage is if the environment is not controlled and the inside gets too hot/humid the plants can get mold and die.

Controlled variables:

- time - planted all seeds jan 25 2025

- time - controls the daly time composd to light

- temperature - 20 degrees celsius

- water - amount of water

- one tip of seed, purple bean

Manipulated variabes:

-Plant location in or out of greenhouse

-type of light artificial light and natural light

Responding variable:

- amont of growth

We are growing bean haricot seeds in diffrent enviroments. We poted 16 beens placing 4 in each enviroment.

• 4 pots open air in natural light

• 4 pots in greenhouse natural light

• 4 pots open air artificial light

• 4 pots in greenhouse artificial light

We are using a mister to water all plant equley

We are going to take observations and pictures everyday.

• Dayly nots on visual apperants

• How damp the soil was

• growth including hight of stems,number of branches,size of leafs.

• observed root growth.

The recorded hites and sizes are in ma spred sheet.

Based on our experiment greenhouses do improve plant growth. The greenhouse samples grew better than the non greenhouse samples. The non greenhouse ones did not grow due to the samples being too dry. Artificil light was more consistant than the natural light allowing for earlier and more consistant growth.

Greenhouses can be used enywhere in the world even if there is por farming or it is cold. It could alow for more local food sorcing.
