Overview
The project that is being presented is experimenting which child proof container is the most efficient. This project was chosen to determine which household container is the safest. The bottle that I think will be the most efficient will be the Listerine bottle because if the way the top is made. The way that the top is made is both sides have to be pushed down and has to be twisted off. To find out which bottle is the most efficient I had 40 kids between the ages of 5-8 years old try to open a series of bottles with each a unique way to open them. They were given a chance to open each bottle. They had 2 minutes to try and successfully open the bottle they were given. If the bottle was successfully opened I would record their times. If the bottle was not successfully recorded I would record that the bottle was not opened. After all the trials have been completed the children's times were averaged and it was found that the Allergy medicine bottle was the most efficient with an average of 143.7 seconds for Kindergarteners, 130.1 seconds for first graders, 86.6 seconds for second graders, and 78.7 seconds for third graders. The least efficiant bottle was the Laundry detergent bottle with an average of 3.36 seconds for Kindergarteners, 2.8 seconds for first graders, 1.9 seconds for second graders, and 1.8 seconds for third graders.
