Chasing the Sun
CSEF · 2026 Environmental Engineering (Junior Division)
Overview
Have you ever wondered what angle for solar panels would be the best for winter time? The purpose of this experiment was to figure out the best angle of solar panels for our Dad's shed. He built this massive shed in our backyard and we wanted to help him. It was hypothesized that the 30 degree angle would be the best for winter time. In this experiment we found the watts for each angle every hour. Then we found the average for each angle and would compared them to see which angle was the best and provided the most watts. The data was analyzed and our hypothesis was incorrect. The 60 degree angle was the best for winter time instead of our hypothesis, which was the 30 degree angle.
