Overview

My project is a multi‑hazard Smart Highway system built using an Arduino Uno R3 starter kit. Its purpose is to simulate how a real highway could automatically react to dangerous conditions and keep drivers safe.

Problem

I chose this project because lots of car crashes in the summer and winter happen and i want to fix that by making a crash detection system with an arduino uno r3 starter kit

Method

I will use wires and a sensor to detect a car that Is standing because its not always a car crash so on the LCD it will say 94 as the speed limit and if it detects a car stopped it will send a signal to the LCD and then tell it to lower the speed limit to 86

Analysis

Across all three trials, the Smart Highway system consistently detected hazards. The LCD displayed in the correct order. Trial 2 showed a slight delay in the sensor response, which suggests that environmental factors or sensor sensitivity can affect reaction time. However, because Trials 1 and 3 were fast and accurate, the overall system appears reliable. The small variation shows that the system works well but could be improved by adjusting sensor thresholds or adding filtering to reduce delays.

Conclusion

Across all three trials, the Smart Highway system consistently detected the hazard and responded the way it was designed to. Trial 2 showed a small delay in how quickly the system reacted, but it still worked correctly and updated the display with the right warning. Because Trials 1 and 3 reacted quickly and smoothly, the results show that the system is reliable and can handle repeated testing. Overall, the experiment proves that your Smart Highway design works well, and improving the sensor timing could make it even more accurate.

Acknowledgement

I would like to thank my dad and mom for guiding me through this project and helping me understand how to improve my design. I also appreciate the support from my teachers who gave feedback during testing. Finally, I want to acknowledge the YouTube tutorials I used to learn how to set up the sensors and understand how the system works.
