Bayes Theorem: Perseverance
ISEF · 2024 Mathematics
Overview
Students across the United States live with the fear of school violence. Schools combat this through rehearsal lockdowns, dress codes, metal detectors, and professional development for policing agents. The project’s purpose is to identify potential signs of valor in one's personality traits to ensure safety and apply them to school security systems. Based on psychological and demographic factors, Bayes' theorem can determine whether an individual will act in a high-risk situation. Implementing "Bayes Theorem: Perseverance" in school systems is one step towards creating a safer country. By identifying and recognizing these traits, schools can better understand their communities' potential heroes and develop strategies to support and encourage them to enhance overall safety. PERSEVERANCE is not limited to only education settings, but also to other areas where mass shootings have occurred. Bayes' theorem also can be applied to other fields and/or situations (i.e., predicting your success in driving, achieving a career goal, and resolving a conflicted issue). PERSEVERANCE is one tool to protect, grow, and protect the community. Pinpointing the heroism signs will be extremely useful for our generation. We may analyze the data using calculations and statistics given by government-issued reports, our tested survey, and departments in a given population. Our quantified valor index showed a mean of 56.3% out of a range of 0%-66% rate. This information can be used to create risk profiles and safety protocols, which can help identify and respond to potential risks before they become too dangerous.
