ADDIE: a Website for Simplifying Cryptocurrency Addresses
ISEF · 2015
Overview
Due to the increasingly prevalent money problems in the world today, cryptocurrency was invented. It allows people to send money of any amount to anyone anywhere at any time without a centralised middleman. Using it, people have access to their own money along with all transaction possibilities. In order to send cryptocurrencies, addresses are used. They are long and arbitrary strings of text, which are impractical to share in real life. This makes using cryptocurrencies more complicated than it has to be. Addie is a website that aims to solve that problem. The user creates an account at the website, attaches all of their cryptocurrency addresses to it and makes a profile. People can then go to said profile by knowing only the username and easily finding their cryptocurrency addresses. Addie also has an application programming interface that allows developers to integrate Addie into their own websites or programs. Using this, people would have to enter their Addie username whenever they are asked for an address. This makes cryptocurrency transactions a lot simpler. So far, Addie has over 1800 registered accounts and it is used every day. I believe it can help make the complicated nature of cryptocurrencies simpler and attract more people to use it.
