A Viewpoint Into People's Perception of the World of Diabetes and Examining Their Results Through In-Depth Analysis

Overview

Throughout school, I have only ever encountered the topic of diabetes once. That was in sixth grade; even then, there was only a paragraph about the disease. As I have matured and accepted my own diagnosis, I have realized that a small percentage of the populace is educated on the topic. This is what influenced me to pursue a census centered around the knowledge of diabetes. Questions were formed after a month of research on diabetes - related subjects. These were then typed into a Google Form and printed onto a paper copy. Data was collected at Parent teacher Conferences and online. All data was then recorded in Excel. Seventy four results were collected and then graphed and analyzed. I concluded that the group of 51 and over felt strongly that healthcare is very accessible with an 8.1 average while 18 and under felt that healthcare was not readily available with a 6.6 average. The 36 - 50 age range felt the most undecided with the most yes's and no's for the question, "will a cure for diabetes come to America?" Additionally, this age range was also the most undecided on financial assistance for diabetics. Further questions were asked based on their knowledge of diabetes.
