3... 2... 1... Blast Off

ISEF · 2018 Engineering Mechanics

Overview

The construction of the rockets will be divided into 3 parts. The first part will be the making of the rocket bodies. They will be made using rolled up pieces of cardstock that are covered in foil and interlocked using hot glue. Next will be the making of each rocket's wings. They will be made using cardboard and were cut into various shapes for each rocket. The shapes of the wings will include squares, circles, triangles, rhombuses, and semi-circles. One rocket will not have any wings and will serve as my control group. The third part will consist of gluing everything together. The wings will be glued to each rocket an equal space away from each other. I will choose to launch the rockets on a clear sunny day with minimal wind, in a wide park with not many trees so there would be no obstructions that would hinder flight. The rocket would be secured on the launch stand aimed at 45-degree angle and launched. Lastly, the distance each rocket traveled was measured at written down.
